Staying Faithful in Tough Times

READ: Ruth chapters 1 and 2

God will bring people into your life who will help you draw nearer to Him. Recognize them and stop resisting their teaching. Pray that the Lord will bring people into your life who will help you become more like Him. Also recognize that you might be in someone else’s life for this reason.

Naomi never begged Ruth to go with her. Sometimes we try to manipulate people into doing what we think they should, when instead, we need to let them go and let God work in their lives.

“I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty.” Naomi said this even though they originally left because they were starving. She is saying that she left with her husband and sons, and has now returned with none of them, and no means to provide for herself. It’s easy to look at our lives and see all that it missing, instead of all that is there – all that our lives are full of.

Happiness does not come from getting what you want, but from getting what God wants you to have.
